FAQ
What are donation hours?
Currently, Table to Table’s preferred donation hours are Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM-3:30 PM, but we may be able to receive them outside of those hours, so it’s worth calling.
How do I donate?
Call our office at 319-337-3400 if you have a rejected load that you’re considering donating. Our dispatcher or one of our staff members will ask questions to get an idea of whether or not we’re able to receive the donation. If possible, we’d love a texted/emailed photo of the rejected load (although it’s not required) as well as information on the dates of the product and any damage.
Why donate?
Donating rejected shipments avoids landfill fees and reduces food waste. The food from these donations will go to people in need, and you can receive a tax deduction receipt for your donation. T2T usually has access to a forklift, pallet jacks, and is happy to help with unloading.
What kind of products can be donated?
Table to Table accepts fresh, refrigerated, frozen, or shelf stable food items. Depending on the level of damage, we can often accept partially damaged loads. We can often take food past its date if it is within our expanded Date Guidelines.
Is there any risk to my company for donating food?
Not at all. The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act (1996) encourages companies to donate food that appears wholesome by protecting them from civil or criminal liability in the event the donated food causes harm.
Table to Table Expanded Date Guidelines
Terms such as “best by”, “sell by”, or “use by” are not safety dates and can still be donated if they fall under the “Acceptable Dates” category. With any questions on date guidelines, call our office at 319-337-3400.
